I've just been to the dentist (probably don't need to say anymore really, but I'm going to anyway), I've not been to a dentist for 5 years, so I decided I probably should. I went to my appointment today and was in there for literally 5 mins, was told I needed a filling and to book another appointment. So, I went downstairs to the reception to book another appointment, and was then told by the receptionist that this visit was going to cost me £15. I know that it could be worse, but come on, this is stupid. All the dentist did was look in my mouth and tell the nurse a bunch of numbers (in that strange language that only dentists understand) and tell me I need a filling. Why is that worth £15? I have to work for about 3 hours to make that. Also, I'm an NHS dental patient, so I'd like to know why after paying taxes and national insurance, which a part of goes to the NHS, do I have to pay to go to the dentist? Surely the NHS should take care of that. I now know why I've not gone to the dentist for 5 years, it's because they like to rip your soul out through your wallet.

"Dear Diary, today I was pompus and my sister was crazy.
Today we got kidnapped by hill folk never to be seen again.
It was the best day ever."
